SKI CENTER “RAVNA PLANINA” AND CHINESE COMPANY SIGN AGREEMENT TO BUILD THE FIRST INDOOR SKI HALL IN THE BALKANS

On April 14th, 2025, in the premises of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in China, an official Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Ski Center “Ravna Planina” from the Republic of Srpska and the renowned Chinese company Eternal Star Ice & Snow Technology Co., Ltd., with the active involvement of the BiH Embassy in Beijing.

The agreement was ceremonially signed by the Director of Ski Center “Ravna Planina”, Mr. Veljko Golijanin, and the President of Eternal Star, Mr. Li Zixin. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador of BiH to China, Mr. Siniša Berjan, the head coach of the Olympic alpine snowboard team, Mr. Jurica Stanković, and representatives of Eternal Star.

The planned cooperation includes the design, development, and construction of an indoor ski hall within the Ski Center “Ravna Planina” in Pale, with an estimated value exceeding €20 million.

The planned ski hall will cover an area of 16,000 m², powered by renewable energy sources, and will fully comply with all global standards for such sports facilities. It will be the first facility of its kind in the Balkans, enabling professional athletes, sports clubs, and recreational skiers to enjoy skiing all year round.

During his official visit to China, Director Golijanin had the opportunity to tour several indoor ski halls and the largest snow and ice equipment factory in Asia, located in Tianjin and owned by Eternal Star. This equipment was also used during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Headquartered in Beijing, Eternal Star is a leader in the construction and management of both indoor and outdoor snow and ice recreational facilities. It is uniquely recognized in China as a high-tech enterprise in this sector. To date, the company has completed over 90 ski-related projects worldwide, including the world’s largest indoor ski center located in the Wandamao amusement park in Harbin, Heilongjiang province.

This partnership represents a major step forward for the development of winter tourism in the Republic of Srpska and the region. With this new facility, Ski Center “Ravna Planina” – already known for its wide range of winter and summer attractions – will further establish itself as a leading year-round tourist and sports destination.
